Pet Food Drives

We had our first pet food drive on Friday November 11. We set up at a table outside of a local coffee shop called The Daily Brew Coffee Bar. They are a great shop in the City of Montebello. There are events happening at the coffee shop almost every day. One of the biggest events they have on a monthly basis is the ArtWalk put on by Keeping the Culture Alive. We love the staff and owners and we love the venue.

We are a collection site for Feeding Pets of the Homeless, a 501c3 out of Nevada. They provide food and medical care for homeless individual's pets. We have spoken to the area food bank, Heart of Compassion Distribution, about them becoming a distribution site for our area. We should hear soon if they sign up. We chose them because not only do they provide food for low income people, they also have a ministry they have to the homeless in our area. That is a great bridge to let the homeless population in our area know about the services of Feeding Pets of the Homeless.

We were so happy to receive the following at our pet food drive:

62.1 Pounds of dry dog food 4.2 pounds of wet dog food 9 leashes 11 collars 1 harness 3 blankets 9 toys 2 poo bag holders 2 packs of puppy pads 1 bowl 15 dog outfits for colder weather 1 pet carrier

We also receive a $200 donation from a friend who asked us to use the money to buy pet food. We haven’t even used half of that money yet and we were able to buy:

100 pounds of dog food 78 pounds of cat food

That totals 244.3 pounds of pet food!

Because we had so many people responding that they would like to give but couldn’t make it to our last one, we will be doing another pet food drive.

The pet food drive is happening at the City of Montebello Snow in the Park happening Saturday December 10 from 11am to 3pm at Montebello City Park located at 1301 W Whittier Blvd, Montebello, CA 90640. We will have a booth at the event. You can drop of your donation and then enjoy the festivities. They will have jumpers, face painting, games, pictures with santa, live bands, ugly sweater contest, raffle prizes, food vendors, and craft vendors, and us.
